NBA – Latest Betting News and Tips February 10th
What’s the story about the back-and-forth Minnesota Timberwolves? We look into it. Though every team still has about 25 games to play, the bottom feeders are in full tanking mode, and we examine what that means to bettors. Plus, the hottest ATS clubs and what is on tap to watch and bet this week.
Tanking Not Good for the NBA or Basketball Bettors
With the tradeline having passed, there is a lot of media discussion about tanking. For those not familiar with the term –tanking – it is a deliberate function of attempting to lose in all major sports to hopefully secure a higher draft pick, to rebuild a team.
It’s a terrible aspect for fans who go to home games, paying high prices because they like the sport and likely their team, but they receive no

discount while their franchise tries to lose, believing or selling better days are ahead. The funny thing about that is that while you pay full price to watch your team lose purposely, when they finally start winning, your reward is even higher prices.
Previously, all sports, including the NBA, tried to finagle their way around it, but no longer. In the last 10 days, teams like Memphis, Utah, and Washington were either leading games or not far behind going into the fourth quarters, and sat their best players that helped keep them in the contest.
This places bettors in a deplorable situation, never knowing what the team’s true intentions are that night, because all the aforementioned squads still win some games. However, the NBA is hard enough to win, but when a team like the Jazz leads by three points, catching +9 points for the game, and three starters don’t play a minute in the final stanza and Utah loses by 15, that’s a hard pill to swallow.
Timberwolves Not Emitting the Correct Vibe
Going into the Monday game this week against Atlanta, Minnesota had lost three of four. The disturbing aspect of this is that the setbacks were to Memphis, New Orleans, and the Clippers, not exactly pro basketball royalty.
Before that, the T-Wolves were 4-0 SU and looked to be surging. Ebb and flow are one way to describe Minny, because before this, they were 0-5 SU and before that bad run, 6-1 SU.
This has been going on for about two seasons, vicious swings of focus and playing nonchalantly. The last frustrating run for fans is non-caring defense, with four opponents making at least 50% of shot attempts and better than 44% behind the arc.
Anthony Edwards is the team’s superstar. His stats look excellent weekly, but at 24, he should be the face of the franchise, yet he disappears in games and in the role of a leader to hold his teammates accountable.
Presently, betting for or against Minnesota is like wearing a mood ring; find out their current mood and wager accordingly.

Top Games to Watch or Bet the Rest of the Week
Tuesday
NBA TV – L.A. Clippers at Houston
NBA TV – San Antonio at L.A. Lakers
The Clippers keep fighting to reach .500 after a horrible start, not made easier by the trade of James Harden. Houston is showing signs of getting back to early-season form. This should be a quality contest. An important battle in L.A. between a pair of Top 5 clubs in the West.
Wednesday
ESPN – New York at Philadelphia
ESPN – San Antonio at Golden State
New York continues to sizzle, having recaptured the #2 slot in the East. The 76ers are back home after a five-game road trip and have to be better than 15-13 (13-15 ATS) on their floor. San Antonio is surging, Golden State is trying to hold on to a Play-In position with the Clippers playing well.
Thursday
PRIME – Milwaukee at Oklahoma City
PRIME – Dallas at L.A. Lakers
Even though the Bucks are playing better of late, they should be no match for the Thunder, IF they are interested. Cooper Flagg can only do so much for Dallas; the Lakers should dispatch the Mavs rather easily.
Friday
ESPN & Peacock – NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, Castrol Rising Stars, and NBA HBCU Classic.
Saturday
NBC – All-Star Saturday Night (Skills Challenge, 3-Point Contest, Slam Dunk Contest)
Sunday
NBC – NBA All-Star Game (featuring a new USA vs. World format).
