Betting College Basketball Tournaments and Free Picks
GamblersWORLD wants you prepared for March Madness, and we have six college basketball tournaments for you to look at beginning Thursday/Friday and through the weekend. We have the top seeds, odds, and betting information for you, along with free picks and top tips.
MAAC – March 5-10
*SEEDS*
- Merrimack (+310 odds)
- Saint Peter’s (+650)
- Siena (+330)
- Quinnipiac (+650)
- Marist (+475)
- Mount St. Mary’s (+1500)
- Fairfield (+1100)
- Iona (+1800)
Top Intel: Merrimack is a deserving favorite ranked #2 in the conference in offensive and defensive efficiency. However, the top seed has
not even reached the finals in four of the past five years. At least one team seeded #4 or lower has reached the championship game in eight straight tournaments. In fact, eight different seeds have made the MACC title game since 2021.
Winner: If not Merrimack, Siena is tied with the best away record at 9-7 (with Quinnipiac) and they’re #1 in offensive efficiency.
Betting Tips: MAAC tournament favorites of two points or fewer are surprisingly 16-2 SU and 15-3 ATS the last 11 years.
The past five MAAC tourneys are strong to the UNDER side for totals at 37-17.
Missouri Valley – March 5-8
*SEEDS*
1.Belmont Bruins (+155 odds)
2.Bradley Braves (+750)
3.Illinois State Redbirds (+500)
4.Murray State Racers (10-1)
5.Illinois Chicago Flames (+850)
6.Northern Iowa Panthers (+475)
7.Valparaiso Beacons (35-1)
8.Southern Illinois Salukis (18-1)
Top Intel: No gifts for the Top 2 seeds to reach the semi-finals, you have to do it the old-fashioned way for Arch Madness, having to win three games to become champions and reach the Big Dance. This tourney is chalky, with those top seeds playing for the title each of the past three years and four of the last five.
Winner: If we have a typical grinder tournament, Northern Iowa will have a shot if they can force everyone to play at a snail’s pace. If Murray State were in the bottom of the bracket and not a #4 seed, I could see them creating problems for Belmont. But likely facing them in the semis, I look for the Bears to be ready to play, and they can handle who they face for the championship.
Betting Tips: In the MVC tournament championship, the favored team is an incredible 13-1 SU and 12-1-1 ATS the last 14 tournaments in Arch Madness.
Defense has ruled in this event the last decade when the total is 131.5 or higher, with the UNDER 46-22.

Southern – March 6-9
*SEEDS*
1.East Tennessee State (+185 odds)
2.Wofford (+800)
3.Samford (+500)
4.Mercer (+475)
5.Western Carolina (10-1)
6.Furman (+425)
Top Intel: Unfortunately, no unique patterns have held together in recent years, making the betting angles what to follow.
Winner: East Tennessee State won the conference by two games and has earned the top billing. The Buccaneers have the best defense in the SoCon, but they have problems with scoring droughts. Because Mercer is the opposite of E.T.S., they have a sharp offensive game, and the Bears could pull the upset of the top seed. If you are looking outside the favorite, Samford is the most balanced squad over 94-feet, and they come in 9-2 SU.
Betting Tips: Jump on this tourney early for the best value. Opening round faves are sweet 23-8 and 22-9 ATS.
Moving on, the SoCon quarterfinals are on a 14-6 UNDER roll over the past five years.
Coastal Athletic – March 6-10
*SEEDS*
- UNC Wilmington (+260 odds)
- Charleston (+500)
- Hofstra (+195)
- Monmouth (+950)
- Drexel (+2000)
- William & Mary (+900)
- Towson (+1500)
Top Intel: Like most tournaments, there is an ebb and flow. For eight years beginning in 2012, every one of the top three seeds made the finals. In the past five tourneys, only one #1 seed has advanced to the championship. And one squad seeded #4 or lower had played for the automatic bid.
Winner: Fascinating to note the #3 seed Hofstra is the favorite. The Pride has won four in a row and eight of nine and has a better statistical profile than the regular-season champion UNC-Wilmington. Charleston has also played well, but only they or Hofstra can reach the Finals. Having seen the top clubs play, UNC-Wilmington is the most complete squad, and they should have won all three games against their closest competitors except for a HOT shooting half by Charleston last week. The Seahawks earn the sweep of regular and postseason titles.
Betting Tips: Pay close attention to the favorites in the semifinal and championship rounds. This has been a burial ground for the chalk at 1-10 ATS. These faves are only 6-5 SU in recent years.
Keep an eye on the five bye teams to pick your spots. Having rest has mattered; who wins with a 27-6 SU record, backed with a good, not great 19-14 ATS mark.
West Coast – March 6-10
*SEEDS*
1.Gonzaga (-210 odds)
2.Saint Mary’s (+230)
3.Santa Clara (+650)
4.Oregon State (170-1)
5.San Francisco (120-1)
6.Pacific (250-1)
Top Intel: Going forward, this will change; however, the top two seeds have met in the finals in 16 of 17 WCC tournaments. In 13 of those 16, it has been Gonzaga vs. Saint Mary’s, as is expected again. Sadly, the Bulldogs are moving to the PAC-whatever, which will diminish this conference.
Winner: Gonzaga is not the same team since losing Braden Huff to injury, but they should hold off St. Mary’s and Santa Clara to win the title. The Gaels just knocked off the Zags, but that was a super emotional last home game for St. Mary’s, about to become their former rival. The odds are lousy, but it is the most likely outcome in the WCC.
Betting Tips: If you are seeking the optimum spot to wager in the West Coast Conference, this is it. Favorites of -6 to -12 points are 26-4 SU and a stellar 23-6-1 ATS (79.3%) in the last 30 such encounters.
It is not unusual for this tourney in Vegas to feature higher-scoring affairs. What to look for is totals set at 147 or higher, which can be pounded, since the OVER is 27-12-1, having averaged going past the number by almost 10 points per game.
Big Sky – March 7-11
*SEEDS*
- Portland State (+400 odds)
- Montana State (+340)
- Eastern Washington (+475)
- Montana (+700)
- Northern Colorado (+425)
- Weber State (+850)
- Idaho (+950)
Top Intel: If you want to pick a wager on who wins, look no further than the Top 2 seeds, who have cashed 13 of the past 14 tickets. Oddly,
last year was the first time in a decade that both made the title tilt.
Winner: With the Big Sky leader, Portland State, having five losses to win the conference, there is a good amount of parity. That is further reflected in the betting odds. Eastern Washington came roaring down the stretch, winning eight of nine, and is a real threat. However, the most balanced team in the field is Montana State on both ends of the floor, ranked in the Top 3 for offensive and defensive efficiency. Then add that they fit the profile of who’s won this tournament, making the Bobcats the right choice.
Betting Tips: The Big Sky features big scores when the total is 140 or lower, with OVERs a bloated 22-7.
Though this is a broader figure, single-digit faves in this event are money at 49-27-1 ATS, with the SU winners a sharp 59-18.
